Fujitsu’s gearing up for MWC 2012, and they’re offering up a brief glimpse of what they’ll have on display in Barcelona. The as-yet-unnamed phone is a Tegra 3 beast, packing four 1.5GHz cores and a few other Fujitsu hallmarks.
When Fujitsu announced their Western smartphone and tablet market ambitions, they said that only premium devices would make the cut. This anonymous handset seems to qualify, with that Tegra 3 chip complimented nicely by a 4.6-inch display and a 13.1 megapixel rear camera. Like a number of their other phones, this new model features water and dust resistance and a biometric sensor for added security.
And in contrast to
the latest offerings from OEMs with an established Western presence like Motorola, Samsung, HTC, and Sony, Fujitsu is actually pre-loading Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s also mention of a “long-life battery,” but its actual capacity isn’t mentioned. LTE and WiMAX capabilities are also noted. That’s all the specifics they’re giving for now, and the tiny image to the right is the only one that Fujitsu has put on display.
On a related note, the manufacturers that will be showing off their latest and greatest at MWC 2012 continue to have trouble “keeping it in their pants.” Fujitsu is the latest offender, but they’re certainly not alone — Acer, HTC, and LG have all been posting images and specs in the recent weeks. Building anticipation by letting users see your new hardware is one way to go about things, but what’s wrong with a little mystery, fellas? I’m starting to get the feeling that by the time the show opens on the 27th there won’t be many surprises left.
